How would you describe what you do in one paragraph?

El Sistema Pasota is a Ghent based creative collective. We organise events and concerts, and offer an online platform for producers, DJ's and musicians. From the moment we started, about less than 2 years ago, we have always been committed to the severely underrated underground music scene in Ghent. Step after step, event after event, set after set, we want to push talented, emerging artists to take it to the next level, so that together we can establish recognition towards all of the beautiful subcultures our city has to offer.

Because of our diverse taste in music and our strong belief in the potential of different genres, we've already created several concepts, each of them having its own specific focus. 'Ogen Toe' for our ambient fanciers, 'Nooit Meer Naar Huis' where hardcore and love rule the never ending nights, 'Hardere Aanpak' which gathers exciting Hip Hop artists from all over the country, and 'Kaamers' for the enthusiasts of jungle and breaks. On our YouTube channel we also post DJ-sets, 'Sistema Sessies', each time in a different setting but with that same unique vibe. With our growing presence in the city comes a growing responsibility towards the scene. That's why ESP will never cease to create a safe haven for artists, for the people, but most of all: for the culture.

What are you planning to do during your take-over?

First up is Moses, who will bring a fast paced set using breaks as glue to keep the set together. He will also add some of his own productions to give it that extra personal touch. DJ Zwart, known most for his explorations of the sharpest edges of electronic music, will this time dive deeper into the world of deconstructed grime, broken beat and leftfield floorfillers. This selection will be a result of musical discoveries during the lockdown, a period which was essential for him to catch up with all the labels, artists and sounds he didn't have time for before everything went silent. Voltère has a simple vision on how a set should sound: hard and fast. His selections always range from obscure industrial bangers to forgotten retro classics mixed with a lot of Belgian produced tracks. The most important thing to him is creating a pure rave environment when he is behind the turntables.
